Model UN High School Conference Project

The University of New Haven's Model United Nations (MUN) program was founded in the fall of 2014. We have had the opportunity to compete in several conferences in New York City, Washington D.C. and even Kobe, Japan. Today, the program is comprised of over 40 students from a diverse set of majors. The University of New Haven’s Model United Nations evolution from a club to a professionally-run course has allowed us to grow and become more competitive each semester.

The goal of the Model United Nations course is to help students gain awareness of global issues while developing important personal and professional skills. Students focus on critical thinking, written and verbal communication skills, public speaking, networking and more. These invaluable experiences give students a significant competitive edge in the job and graduate school markets.

Our program has helped us in so many ways but now we need your help. Our MUN team has a lot of plans for the 2017-2018 academic year. One priority is to hold a high school Model United Nations conference on campus. We see how important the program has been to our college experience and want high school students to have the same opportunity.

We have a dedicated team of students who are ready to start the Fall 2017 semester and make an impact. In order for us to achieve our goals, especially the high school conference, we need YOU!

You can help us on our journey with a gift—of any amount—and spreading the word on social media.

Thank you in advance!

Levels
Choose a giving level

$25

General Assembly First

The first donation level ($25) is equal to the General Assembly First Committee. The General Assembly First deals with disarmament, global challenges and threats to peace that affect the international community.

$50

General Assembly Second

The second level ($50 donation) is equivalent to the General Assembly Second Committee; they work with issues relating to economic growth and development.

$100

General Assembly Third

The General Assembly Third Committee discusses items relating to a range of social, humanitarian affairs and human rights issues that affect people all over the world. A $100 donation can help us on our quest to mentor high school students in our community.

$250

General Assembly Fourth

The General Assembly Fourth Committee is the Special Political and Decolonization Committee. A gift of $250 will help us spread awareness, like the General Assembly Fourth.

$500

Security Council

The Security Council at the United Nations is responsible for the maintenance of international peace and security. A very generous gift of $500 will help to expand our knowledge of Security Council issues.

$1,000

Secretary-General

Be a leader like the Secretary-General! The Secretary-General is the "chief administrative officer" of the United Nations. A transformational gift of $1,000 will help us to jump start our projects for the year.
